Saltley Stories

Saltley Stories is an exciting community history project managed by Norton Hall to record the memories and experiences of people living, working or studying in Saltley and Alum Rock over the past 50-60 years.

Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and working with researchers from the University of Nottingham, Saltley Stories has:

•   Interviewed local people about how they came to Saltley and the social changes they have seen

•   Held 'Big Picture' days to collect photographs and given people the chance to take and keep Self Portraits

•   Created a touring exhibition showcasing photographs from Saltley's past

•   Created an archive about Saltley to be kept in the new Birmingham Library.

Through this project we aim to bring to the fore the true essence of the people and places of Saltley and Alum Rock.

We've also launched a new website to share people's memories:

www.saltleystories.org.uk
