Digital Inclusion

In an increasingly digital age and growth of online services, the COVID pandemic highlighted a disparity in digital access within our community. We found many people lacked basic IT skills and had limited or no access to IT resources and therefore are unable to access online services and information.

This creates further barriers for people who already face multiple disadvantages including: Limited English Language, Unemployment and Financial Hardship.

In response to these issues, we have developed a programme of digital support to provide the training and equipment to help people get online and to become more digitally active and capable. Our support includes:

One-to-one IT Support

Enabling women with little or no IT skills to continue with their learning by accessing our online education classes delivered through digital platforms. This support includes helping them to create an email address and to use video calling software such as Zoom

IT library Service

Providing free tablets to women with no access to IT equipment or the internet. Our tablet and laptop loan service has allowed women to access our online services from home during lockdown and beyond.

Computer Training

We have invested in an IT training suite and are developing a range of IT courses for varying levels of ability to create a learning pathway to enable women to become confident using various forms of technology and gain essential skills for life and work.

Community IT Resource Hub

Providing access to an onsite IT facility for women to use to undertake job searches, create job applications, develop CVs to support them to gain employment.
